Privacy Policy

My apps are built to keep your data yours. No accounts, no ads, no analytics, no tracking.

Data I collect

None. I don't run servers that receive your data, and my apps contain no analytics, advertising or tracking code. I can't see what you store in my apps, and I never track you across other companies' apps or websites. You never need an account or a login.

Where your data is stored

Everything you create in my apps — for example saved items, notes, history, progress and settings — is stored on your device. If you use iCloud, it syncs between your devices through your own private iCloud storage, which Apple operates under Apple's Privacy Policy. I have no access to it. Passwords and API keys you enter are kept in the Keychain and sync only through iCloud Keychain, which Apple end-to-end encrypts. An API key is only ever sent to the service it belongs to, never to me.

Services you choose to connect

Some apps let you connect a third-party service with your own account or API key — for example an AI provider such as OpenAI, Anthropic, Google Gemini or OpenRouter, or a server you run yourself. This is always optional and off until you set it up, and the app tells you what will be sent before you do. (Bookmuse's built-in AI, described below, is the one exception that is on by default.)

When you connect one, the content needed for the feature you use (for example, the text you ask to translate or explain, and your questions about it) is sent directly from your device to that service. That exchange is between you and the service, under your account and its own terms and privacy policy — it is not sent to me, and I don't share it with anyone. Please review the service's privacy policy before connecting it.

Built-in AI (Bookmuse). Bookmuse includes BookMuse AI, an online engine that needs no account or key and is on by default. When it answers a lookup, a follow-up question or Ask AI, the text you look up, your questions and, for Ask AI, the parts of the book it reads are sent from your device to OpenRouter, which has an OpenAI model generate the answer, under OpenRouter's and OpenAI's own terms. It isn't sent to me, isn't linked to you, and I don't store it. You can switch to Apple Translation or Apple Intelligence, which run on your device, in Settings → AI Engine.

Online voices. If you choose an online voice for listening (for example ElevenLabs, OpenAI, OpenRouter, Vbee, or a server you run yourself), the text being read aloud is sent directly from your device to that service to turn into speech, under its own terms and privacy policy. Nothing is sent to me.

Book catalogs. When you browse a book catalog, such as Project Gutenberg or an OPDS server you add (for example Calibre, Komga or Stump), the app requests pages and books directly from that catalog's own server, which can see the usual details of a web request (such as your IP address). A server's sign-in details go only to that server.

Features provided by Apple, such as Apple Translation, Apple Intelligence and Apple's voices, run on your device under Apple's privacy terms.

Some apps offer optional downloads, such as natural voice packs for reading aloud. They only download when you tap to get them, and they come from a public GitHub release, so GitHub receives the usual details of a download request (such as your IP address) under GitHub's privacy statement. Nothing you read or create is sent: the voices run entirely on your device.

Permissions

Apps only ask for the permissions a feature needs, and only when you use it — for example notifications for reminders you schedule, or local network access to reach a server on your own network. You can change these at any time in your device's Settings.

Your choices and deletion

Children

My apps don't collect personal information from anyone, including children.
